Welcome to my site. I am a Lecturer and Career Development Fellow in English Literature at the University of Oxford, and a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
I specialise in Shakespeare and early modern English literature, with an emphasis on performance, book history, wartime culture, and the global reception and afterlives of texts. I am the author of four books that cover topics such as Shakespeare’s wartime use between the seventeenth and twenty-first centuries (an ongoing research interest), early modern historical drama and its contribution to political and national identities, and how ideas of authorship, collaboration, and imitation are explored within early modern plays. I have curated an exhibition for the National Army Museum (on ‘Shakespeare and War’) and enjoy working with cultural partners, theatre companies, and the media. Thanks for visiting.
